OUR Church plants

WHY WE PLANT CHURCHES

Alongside planting Oxygen Life Church congregations, we believe in planting churches and sending out believers from among us to advance the Kingdom of God across the earth. Below, you can find out more about those who have been sent out from among us to establish new church plants or strengthen existing ones. These churches are individual in their names and identity to better reach in their local contexts but carry the same New Testament-pattern heart and culture that we do, and form part of our partnership in Four12. We also celebrate those who have gone to come alongside these leaders – laying down jobs, comfort, and familiarity to start afresh and build God’s Kingdom. We are a people following Jesus in sharing His love, sacrifice and devotion so that the lost may be saved!

Stephen & Sara Grewar

New Heart Church, Taiwan

Stephen and Sara were an eldership couple in the Walmer PM congregation but had always felt a call to move to Taiwan, where Sarah was from, and plant a church there. In August 2020, they relocated along with their daughter Evie along with one of our Oxygen Lifers to plant New Heart Church in Taichung City. Now a thriving congregation, New Heart Church is a diverse church with believers from Taiwan and various other nations.

Lesedi & Kristle Williams

King & Country Church, UK

After joining our eldership team, Lesedi and Kristle planted our Western Suburbs congregation in Gqeberha, South Africa, in 2018. They had also felt a call from God to pioneer by planting a church in the United Kingdom, and in April 2020 the Williams and 7 other Oxygen Lifers relocated to London to plant King & Country Church, which now has two congregations in Putney and Stevenage.

Dean Smith-Belton

Living Waters Community Church, Adelaide, SA

Dean was on eldership in our Walmer PM congregation in Gqeberha, South Africa, for 4 years. In 2022, after some leadership changes in Living Waters Community Church in Adelaide, Eastern Cape – a partnering Four12 church in our region – some of our elders sought God on who could be sent to help lead this church forwards. Dean was just the person for this, and responding eagerly, he moved over to lead Living Waters. Today, this church is healthy and strong, and we continue to enjoy a wonderful partnership – with some Oxygen Lifers having moved there in recent years to be part of what God is doing in the area!

Cliff and Keigwyn Hiscock

Cliff was the first elder released in Oxygen Life in the early 2000s, and the Hiscocks were an instrumental couple in pioneering the culture of discipleship we live in today. In July 2010, their family was sent to River of Life Church in Oudtshoorn, South Africa, which was transitioned into a Joshua Generation congregation in 2012, a church with which we partner in Four12. In 2013, the family were called to Joshua Generation’s Sunningdale AM congregation in Cape Town, in order to serve on the eldership team there, where they continue to be part of advancing God’s Kingdom in Cape Town to this day.

Matt & Shan Wright

Matt & Shan served as an eldership couple in our Walmer PM congregation before planting Risen Hope Church in Durban, South Africa, in 2021, having felt the call of God to pioneer a new church in Durban. They were joined by 7 other Oxygen Lifers who also packed up their lives in Gqeberha to follow God’s call and support this church plant. In 2024, Risen Hope Church was transitioned into a congregation of Kingdom Community Church, a Four12-partnering church, and is now led by Gerrit & Cherie Loots. Matt and Shan continue to serve on the leadership team, and this now firmly-established congregation continues to thrive in Durban North.

Alan & Theresa Preller

The Prellers, having been part of Oxygen Life Church since 2002 (when we started!), led our Walmer PM congregation since its planting until 2018, when they were sent to lead New Life Church in East London, South Africa. Amongst us, they built, loved, led and were at the forefront of shaping a Kingdom culture – and did exactly that in New Life until Alan passed away in 2022. Alan’s legacy lives on in the many lives both he and Theresa impacted, and Theresa is now part of Joshua Generation Church in Mossel Bay. New Life Church is currently led by Robin & Kirsten Scott.
